AUGUSTE EDOUART (FRENCH/AMERICAN, 1789-1861), ATTRIBUTED, CUT-AND-PASTED SILHOUETTE, full-length bearded gentleman wearing overcoat and top hat, inscribed on backing paper verso "John A. Zacharie / New Orleans / 18th March / 1844". Housed under glass in an old frame bearing label for "Arthur S. Vernay / 12 East 45th Street, New York", artist attribution and further identification of sitter, additional printed label attached verso for "Rev. Glenn Tilley Morse / All Saints Rectory / West Newbury / Massachusetts". 1844. 11 1/2" x 5" sight, 12 1/2" x 6" OA.
Good overall visual condition with minor toning and discoloration. Minor discoloration to silhouette. Not examined out of frame.
Provenance: From a Virginia private collection.
Catalogue Note: There is a John A. Zacharie, born about 1813 in Maryland, recorded in New Orleans as a "merchant" in the 1850 U. S. Census as living with his wife, Amanda, and young son, Jason.

Condition

Good overall visual condition with minor toning and discoloration. Minor discoloration to silhouette. Not examined out of frame.
