Description

Abner Dubic Haitian Village Scene:
A tall vertical painting of a village scene. The foreground features women and children tending animals, playing, and preparing food. A dirt path winds its way up through the village and toward the verdant hills. Trees bear fruit, and animals graze in this charming scene. Painted on all four sides so that no additional framing is required.
Abner Dubic was born in Leogane on November 17, 1944. Dubic started painting in 1966 under the guidance of painter Gabriel Leveque. Quickly finding his own style, he specialized in vast realistic landscapes which serve as a setting for the representation of country life, farm work, and festivities in Haiti. His touch is precise with clear drawing and exuberant but subtle colors. He was noticed by Andre Malraux and Jean Marie Drot in 1975 and exhibited in Paris, Strasbourg, and the United States.
