Description
A good early 19th century oil on canvas portrait of a woman, perhaps Barbara Chiffinch, in 18th century dress seated with whippet dog, blue satin cloak and gold dress with lace, a mountain landscape in the distance, a fine work nicely displayed in an appropriate frame of later vintage.
Measures 40.5 x 49.5 inches, 45 x 55 inches framed.
We happily provide seamless in-house packing and shipping services on nearly everything we sell.

Condition
Very good condition, restoration visible under black light, scattered areas of inpainting, primarily along the upper edge where there is a 2-inch band of inpainting at the extreme top edge, and secondly a narrow 8-inch line of inpainting, presumably a scratch or tear repair at the dog's head. Only minor touch-up otherwise scattered elsewhere throughout the canvas equaling 5% or less of the surface, excluding the two previously mentioned areas of repair.
