Late Period, 664-332 BC. A gold rectangular plaque with repoussé scene of a kneeling female making the gesture of jubilation by holding one hand to the chest and the other above her head; in front an offering table with food piled on top; to the other end of the plaque the goddess Hathor seated on a throne wearing a tripartite wig, tight fitting robes, holding a was sceptre and crowned by the cow horns and sun-disc. 0.61 grams, 40mm (1 1/2"). Property of a London gentleman; formerly from an important European collection; previously acquired on the German art market before 1980.
