Description
Italy, Neopolis, 300 BCE to 260 BCE. OBVERSE: Beardless male head to left. REVERSE: Greek inscription on either side of tripod. BMC 1, 203. Sear 555. Size : 2.28 grams, 14 mm.

Campania was colonized by Ancient Greeks and was part of Magna Gr¾cia with the most important city of Neapolis being founded in the 6th century BCE. It flourished for a couple of hundred years until it became part of the Roman Republic during the 4th century BCE. Today tourists worldwide visit modern day Neapolis, better known as Naples or Napoli to the Italians.
