Description
Five large soup spoons, silver 84 (marked, different manufacturers), Russia, the 19th century.
The spoons were kept by an important collector for many years. After his death, they were found with a printed note attached to each one of them: "Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Alter of Gur ben Rabbi Yisrael / Author of Chidushei Ha'Rim".
It is common knowledge that eating is considered by great Rebbes and Tzaddikim a spiritual, pure and holy act. When they ate, they were occupied with finding the sparks of the food and its spiritual Tikkun.
Before us are the spoons of 'Chidushei Ha'Rim' with which he ate his meals in holiness and purity!

He was one of the leaders of the Jews of Poland. He was a leading disciple of Rabbi Simcha Bonem of Peshischa and the Rabbi of Kock, who later became his brother-in-law.
