A superb antique sterling and guilloche enamel compact with scene of elegant courting couple and collie dog strolling in a park/country setting. Dressed in 18th century French costume. Great detail in all aspects, the faces, folds in clothing, lady's hat, dog, trees on right side, and scenic background on left side with lake, trees and sky. The rich, ruby red sides and reverse are gorgeous, and the guilloche design excellent. The guilloche design in my opinion is as good as a Russian piece. Just a breathtakingly beautiful piece. Stamped Germany and Sterling. This compact is rarer, better quality and so much finer than the sterling and enamel mid 20th century italian compacts which are more common, yet command a very high price, even with minor flaws/damages.

Condition: mint! No damages, chips, wear, scratches, restorations in enamel! Amazing to find a piece as this in such superb condition! One does not come across a piece as this in such excellent condition and so beautiful in one's lifetime very often. Mirror is excellent, the compact closes tightly, the piece is intact which holds powder. This piece has been well cared for over the last almost 100 years.
