Pair of Middle Eastern carved teak architectural elements with Islamic calligraphy, 19th century, the pair of traditional window shutters forming a stylized trefoil arch flanked by spandrels with incised foliate carving, each shutter constructed in three panels, divided by two cross-bars, the panels containing high relief Arabic inscriptions reading 'In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful. Trust is in Him' (bismillah al-rahman al-rahim wa bihi thiqati), carved in a vernacular form of Thuluth script, the border and cross-bars surrounding the panels are studded with round iron nail heads and reinforced at the joints with rectangular metal braces, the right shutter having a wrought iron loop suspending three oval wrought iron chain links, both shutters retaining their hand forged pivot hinges at top left and right, each 64"h x 17"w x 3"d.
