Chandler Pottery (attrib.). 8 Gallon Double-Sided Decorated Storage Jar. c. 1850's. Edgefield, SC. Ash glaze with garland motif in dark slip glaze probably decorated by enslaved women. Overall great condition. About a 3 inch professional restoration to rim and handles, and minor hairline cracks along rim and base. 19.5" h x 9" diameter at rim, 51" circumference at widest point. Provenance: Purchased from grandson of original 1852 plantation owner. Jar remained with the original family until early 1980's.
