Lot of 4 Old Decoys from the Roy Willis, Stacy, NC decoy rig. Roy Willis was a long time collector/guide/hunter/decoy carver in eastern North Carolina and the son of Eldon Willis renowned decoy carver of the early to mid-20th century. The elder Willis and his son guided many famous dignitaries throughout a career that lasted well over 70 years between the father son team. Roy was also a collector of sporting memorabilia especially decoys. The exact birds being offered here were sold at Mr. Willis' estate sale after his death with the auction ticket still intact. The birds in this lot are mostly animal trap bodies, some with replaced heads, repainted etc. These were hunting decoys and well used over the years. A great example of a rig that sometimes numbered into the hundreds on any given guided hunt. A significant piece of decoy collecting history. $300-600 (RCB-11214)
