Unknown maker, hollow carved working puddle duck decoy with original weight and leather tie eye. The bird shows lots of overpaint that now makes it appear to be a black duck. Would love to see the paint underneath as this bird appears bufflehead or teal size and shape. The decoy remains very solid, no cracks or significant dings. This bird dates from the late 1930's-40's era showing excellent authentic age patina. The head is made in two pieces with a cam type sleeve allowing it to naturally turn its head in the wind.
