Antique Sword Cane with carved stag grip. The sword blade is unmarked as far as we can tell but does have vine and leaf pattern engraved along 1/2 the blade, both sides. The blade shows mostly smooth dark gray patina, several spots of old "cleaned" pitting are present, blade remains mostly smooth. The stag grip shows cross cuts along the bottom edge, ostensibly for better grip. The almost rapier type blade measures 20 1/2"and is double beveled on both sides. The sheath appears to be wrapped in sinew with an old brass Winchester shot shell acting as ground contact bumper. The neck of the wooden sheath shows a neatly woven silver wire collar, now turning dark with oxidation as is typical with silver. Obviously a handmade piece, this cane remains in fully functional condition grading about VG-. A neat example of early Americana. $200-400 (CCH-11182)
