Description
Pre-Columbian, Colombia, San Augustin and Tierradentro, ca. 600 BCE to 100 CE. A voluminous, globular pottery vessel, finished with burnished dark brown slip of rich chocolate hues with punctuate designs conjuring images of seashells and/or beans adorning the upper and lower sections, each register bordered with a dotted, stitch-like motif. A lovely example from the ancients of Colombia with a lustrous, leather-like sheen. Size: 10.5" in diameter x 9" H (26.7 cm x 22.9 cm)
