Description
1797 William Shakespeare Plays Taming of the Shrew Macbeth Comedy Steevens Rowe
“The remarkable thing about Shakespeare is that he is really very good - in spite of all the people who say he is very good.” ÐRobert Graves
A rare set of the plays of William Shakespeare. This three-volume collection includes the most famous works of Shakespearean theatre including ‘All’s Well that Ends Well’, ‘Taming of the Shrew’, ‘Winter’s Tale’, ‘Comedy of Errors,’ and ‘Macbeth’
This 1797 edition is taken directly from the famous George Steevens edition, which was popularized by Samuel Johnson. Nicholas Rowe, the editor of this work, published the very first 18th-century edition of Shakespeare, however, this edition is important because Rowe is considered the first editor of Shakespeare.
