SCOTTISH ENGLISH GEORGIAN-STYLE EBONIZED-WOOD AND GILT-METAL BRACKET CLOCK WITH MATCHING SHELF, brass movement with eight-bell chime and coil-gong Canterbury chime, housed in an ebonized wood case having gilt-metal mountings, molding, and feet, including pierced side panels with centered cherub mask, with tombstone-arch glass door, and hinged back panel having paper label to inside lettered for retailer "R.L. CHRISTIE / 17, 18, 19, & 20 BANK STREET / EDINBURGH"; metal dial with Roman numerals, on gilt-metal face marked for "MACKAY CUNNINGHAM & CO. / EDINBURGH" under twin dials for chime/silent adjustment and choice of eight-bells or Canterbury chimes, surrounded by gilt-metal ormolu-style mountings. Lacking pendulum. With likely original ebonized wood shelf having matching gilt-metal mountings, and heavy iron hanging brackets. 19th century. 27 1/2" HOA, 17" x 11 3/4" OA. Shelf 14" H, 18 3/4" x 12 1/8" OA.
Excellent condition, minimal expected wear, some natural separation to case molding. Unknown working condition, lacking pendulum.
