This is the Faber and Faber March 1936 publication of Lucie G. Nicoll's "The English Cookery Book" (402 pages). The cover (app. 5.5" x 8.25"), green cloth background with gold lettering and design, is worn, with shallow fraying to both ends of the spine, which is straight, securely connected, and with clearly legible lettering. The outside corners are bumped, and there are several scuffs to the boards, and various stains (see photo). The only extraneous elements are to the front inside cover spread, which has a gift notation, dated 1942, and the residue of some attachment, presumably a personal bookplate, to the bottom of the front inside cover. There is no other writing, nor are there any other stamps. Most pages are clean, though there are recurring light stains. The most prominent stain is to the outside edges of about a dozen pages - a dark brown spot, about half an inch in diameter - most like from a burn (see photo). The pages are otherwise in good condition, with no tears or creases, and with all text unfaded and legible.
