Description
A Sidonian pale purple mold blown bottle, Eastern Mediterranean, 1st Century AD, from a two-part mold, the ovoid body with narrow flattened base, the sides are adorned with a central frieze containing a continuous vine scroll motif flanked above and below by a band of ridges and vertical flutes. The cylindrical neck flanked by two applied loop handles. H: 2 ¾ in (6.8 cm). Body deformed during production and with light deposits and iridescence. Cf. Toledo (1995), p. 153. No. 56 for type; Ex Superior Stamp & Coin (Jan. 1978) lot 1985.
