Description
A group of Egyptian stone amulets, Late Period, c. 664 - 30 BC, and include a pair red jasper of 'Akhet' of horizon amulets and a black stone solar disc amulet. The Akhet represented the daily rebirth of the sun and the lower shape represents the 'djew', or sacred mountain. The Akhet was guarded by the Aker, a double headed lion who insured the safe passage of the sun-barque. Largest: 1.5 cm x 1.3 cm. All nicely preserved with light deposits. Ex Boston Museum of Fine Arts collection.
