Description
Eva Zeisel, an extremely rare prototype porcelain Ladle, apparently one of two made, Museum Service, Castleton China, New Castle, PA, designed 1942-1943. Unmarked. Length 6 1/2 in. (16.5 cm). 1620-142
Exhibited: San Francisco, Sunnyside Neighborhood Association, "Collection of Pat Moore and Dr. Gene L. Grobman,” 18-19 October 2014.
Provenance: Jack Christ (a Castleton employee at the time Zeisel’s designs were being produced)
Note: The Museum of Modern Art holds an edition of ladle in their collection (205.1947.57). The piece was gifted to the Museum by Castleton China in 1947 when the line was first introduced to the public. Condition
Overall fair condition; the edge of the bowl with a tiny chip and crack, both with slight discoloration. Please note that this lot might incur higher shipping costs because of the fragility of the material and design.
