**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, Mayan Territories, Central Mexico, Maya, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A fine terracotta visage of an eye-catching Mayan male figure with almond-shaped eyes, a prominent nose, lips parted into a toothy smile, a wide brow, and a large circular ear spool. An elaborately-detailed headdress features intricate linear and curvilinear designs, and almost dwarfs the wearer's head in scale. Drilled upwards through the neck for mounting on custom wooden display stand. Size: 2" L x 3.5" W x 4" H (5.1 cm x 8.9 cm x 10.2 cm); 6.6" H (16.8 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
Head is a fragment of a larger figure, and is secured on stand with adhesive. Restoration to nose, earthen deposits in incised details, losses to left side of headdress and neck, with age-commensurate surface wear. An old collection number "62.39" is written in black paint on verso.
