China; 19th century
Gilt and polychrome camphor wood throne, probably for a deity and to be carried in a procession. Elaborate pierce-carvings abound. The front with three arcades, depicting officials (top), religious figures (center), and equestrian scene (bottom). The sides also heavily carved, as well as the arms and back, with writhing dragons, etc. Two wrought iron handles on each side.
