Description
English, late 18th/early 19th century. Regency period tortoise shell veneered tea caddy with shaped silvered cartouche on top of stepped lid, hinged lid opening to reveal two fitted lids with knob handles within, silver piping throughout, rectangular silvered key escutcheon, shaped front, surmounting four bun feet. Approximate height 5.4", width 7.9", depth 5.1".
Condition
Minor flea bites at edges and surface scratches throughout commensurate with age and usage. Piping and veneer touched-up or reinforced; responding under black light. Remnants of lining to interior. Back hinged with repairs, noted under black light.
