Description
Continental, possibly Portuguese, first half 19th century. A matched pair of Gothic or Medieval style leather covered wood cabinets, likely for wine/spirits, both having wood carved battle axe finials over a single cupboard door opening to shelved interior lined with coarse fabric and having an individual locking mechanism, raised on octagonal shaped legs. The whole covered in studded leather, some embossed with mythological beasts and foliage. Approximate height 78.37", width 24.37", depth 12.37".
Condition
Both structurally sound. Both likely with some replaced wood (shelves, sides, doors). Cracking, lifting with some losses to leather. Staining, rips and holes to fabric lined interior commensurate with age and usage. Worming present. Side stretcher repaired. Some scattered wood chips with losses commensurate with age and usage.
