**First Time At Auction**
Roman Empire, Imperial Period, Roman Holy Land, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A tall and stout carved alabaster vessel, known as an alabastron, with a round but stable base with a slight indentation, a cylindrical body which gently tapers to a narrow neck, a rolled rim, and a wide mouth. Vessels like this were used for storing cosmetics or other scented oils, and would have been a common sight in the typical Roman household. Size: 2.375" W x 6.25" H (6 cm x 15.9 cm).
