Description
An English, foot operated fire horn manufactured in the 1800's by Siebe Gormon and Co. Ltd. Its initial use was to give air to helmets in the mines then later converted into an alarm once a more superior breathing device was invented. An oval black and gold plaque reads "Everything For Safety Everywhere" with additional information regarding the manufacturer. This fire horn is "Code For Signaling By Means of Life Line." 1 pull means "More are required" - 2 "Slack off line lines" - 3 "Help me out immediately" as the last one. The burgundy leather that sits on top of the dark oak base is cracking on all sides with the gold trumpet horn showing minor signs of wear. The foot pedal extends 4-1/2 inches from the base and does not operate. Condition: (Good). Dimensions: 25"T x 9"W x 20-1/2"D.
