Description
An assortment of official White House notepads. The notepads are two sizes, the smaller are 5.5 x 4" and the larger are 8 x 5". Seven of the notepads come directly from the White House and feature "The White House Washington" printed in dark blue standard all capital sans serif font, in the top center of the page.
The other notebooks included come from the office of the Naval Aide to the President and Air Force One. The Naval Aide office notes feature a flag with a gold ring inside and the the underlined text below in a navy blue serif script “From the Naval Aide to the President.” Some pages have been torn from the notepad. The partially complete Air Force One notepads have the Presidential Seal as well as the script “Aboard Air Force One” in all capital sans serif font across the top of each page.
These items come directly from the Hirschy family. Lieutenant Hirschy was Supply and Logistics Officer for the Military Aides to the President and Officer-in-Charge of the Navy Mess in the White House during both the Kennedy and Johnson administrations. His duties also included taking care of the President’s needs on overseas trips, aboard the presidential yachts and at Camp David. Lt. Hirschy served in the White House from May 1, 1961 through May 31, 1965.
