A collection of items from the Inauguration of President John F Kennedy and Vice President Lyndon B Johnson.

Two original engraved invitations to the Inauguration of President John F Kennedy and Vice President Lyndon B Johnson on January 20, 1961. Both invitations are signed in blue ink by John Kennedy in the upper right corner of the front panel. Printed on cream parchment-like paper, and folded to measure 10 x 6.5". Each opens to contain printed black and white portrait images of Kennedy and Johnson, each on a separate sheet measuring 9.5 x 6.25", and each bearing the facsimile signature of the President and Vice President respectively. As invitees to the Inaugural ceremonies were required to present and relinquish an enclosed "card of admission," those cards are missing from both invitations.

An original engraved and embossed Inauguration Ceremonies Program, inscribed and signed in blue ink in lower right: To Jim - best wishes - John Kennedy. The cover of the Program is printed on heavy cream laid stock and bound with a red, white, and blue ribbon and measures 9.125 x 6.25". The front panel bears a Great Seal, embossed in gold. Interior pages on cream stock consist of two 8.75 x 11.75" sheets folded in half to yield four leaves, bound into the cover by the ribbon.

Signed "John Kennedy 1961" in blue ink on the front flyleaf. Numbered 776, and signed by E H Foley, General Chairman of the 1961 Inaugural Committee, inside front cover. This book includes both the 64-page softbound inaugural program and a 32-page Pictorial Review section with photographs and articles of past inaugurals, for a total of 96 pages. Black textured cloth cover with gold embossed Great Seal and the recipient's name "Edward J. Sullivan" in lower left corner. 11.5 x 8.5".

Both invitations and the program have minor finger dents from having been handled. Book cover shows signs of wear at corners, and many interior pages have finger dents. Several small tears along edges of pages 1 - 7.
