Description
Chinese late Qing dynasty (19th century) 2 Part Opium Pipe with bronze bowl and a lidded hand carved wood box with a hollow interior. These containers typically hung from a belt by the cord and were designed to carry tobacco. 2 1/2" tall by 2" wide at the edges of the fitted lid. Very good overall condition both with significant patina evident. pROVENANCE: Garst/Quackenbush Family By Descent. Rear Admiral Perry Garst, Annapolis Graduate, was married to Elizabeth Quackenbush, daughter of Admiral Stephen Platt Quackenbush.
