Description
Two Large English Victorian Glass Dump Paperweights. Both are good quality and one features the classic air bubble pattern, the other a potted flower design. The flower is 4"x4"x5" and the air bubbles 3"x3"x4.50". Weight combined 6 pds. PROVENANCE: A private collection Manchester, England - Charleston, SC. Both are good examples of English Victorian glass dumps, so called because they were made from leftover green bottle glass that would otherwise have been dumped at the end of the day. The first dumps were probably made by the Yorkshire bottle making companies, J Kilner, J Tower and Redfearn Brothers around 1829 and production continued to the late 1800s.
