An expertly, intricately, artistically painted dragon in the clouds decorates this blue and white plate.
The design is of a sinuous four-clawed dragon in the clouds looking for the pearl of wisdom. He has a fierce look on his face. The rim has a border of prunus blossoms. A medium cobalt blue was used to decorate the plate, with a darker cobalt used to outline. The white glaze of the background has a slight bluish cast. The glaze feels soft, smooth, unctuous, and looks shiny.
The plate is heavily hand-potted with a narrow rim band. You can see the potter’s wheel marks under the base glaze. The rim slopes to a large flat central well. Underneath there is an unglazed cut foot ring that is very smooth.
There is a four character mark in cobalt underneath that says åƒç§‹åœ’ 製 made by Sensyuen (either a shop or studio's name ).

CONDITION The piece is in excellent condition for its age. There are no chips, breaks, or cracks, and it rings like a bell. There are a few tiny wear scratches that are barely visible, and a few tiny kiln flaws. A very well painted work of art that will show off well in the home décor.
