A song by Jack Yellen (words and music) and Lew Pollack (music) created in 1925. This year Sophie Tucker began singing My Yiddishe Momme after the death of her own mother. It was first recorded by Willie Howard, made famous by Belle Baker, Sophie Tucker, and the Barry Sisters.
In 1928 Sophie Tucker made it a top 5 USA hit, with record in English on A-side and Yiddish on the B-side. Leo Fuld combined both in one track and made it a hit in the rest of the world.
