Three piece "Ranger" buckle set: All pieces constructed of pierced & engraved multi-level sterling silver and 14K gold. Sterling silver is heavily patina"ed to a dark silver color. Gold is in bright yellow and rose. Peripheries are twisted rose gold wire. Inset diamonds are VS to SI clarity. Crescent over shield in yellow gold with 5 diamonds. Four and five petalled gold flowers with diamond centers are supported by gold botanical engravings. 11 Diamonds total.

McCabe was established in 1923 in Hollywood, CA. The company produced high quality silversmithing items until its sale in 1948 to Sunset Trails. Both studios regularly designed for Western film, music stars and celebrities. Sunset Trails recently sold to Burns Silversmith & Saddlery. Auctioneer's Note/Provenance: In our authentication process we contacted Burns Silversmiths and Saddlery & it was confirmed by the current owner that it is indeed a McCabe design, made from McCabe dies and that the engraver currently employed by Burn's stated that it is "well before his time", which places it at 45 years old minimum. Oral tradition derived from the previous owner & the consignor, from inquiries made prior to Sunset Trails is that the design details places it far earlier, likely to the original McCabe shop. There are no retained sales records from the original McCabe or Sunset Trails shops. The term "McCabe" is currently employed as a designation of Burns Silversmiths' highest quality workmanship and vintage designs. In our extensive authentication process, no other diamond inset sets of this style have been seen in the marketplace or in archived photographs. Buckle: 2-5/8" length.
