Description
DESCRIPTION: A Napoleon III Ormolu mantel clock by Henri Picard, with a Leon Marchand movement. Features a monumental ormolu foundation of a cherub atop a Greco-Roman column seated with an hourglass, beside a cupid figurine with a quiver of arrows by its side, leaning against the column. Along the right side of the column, are textured, scrolled rococo acanthus leaves. Along the base are wave form, as well as Greco-Roman, meander patterns intersected by dangling rings, centered by a baroque cartouche enveloped by floral motifs. The center clock face is enveloped by a floral garland and features a porcelain dial with both Arabic and Latin numerals. Marked along the clock face:"L. Marchand A Paris Rue Richelieu 57". Stamped along the verso of the Base:" H. Picard".

CONDITION: The door covering the movement along the verso is missing a easily repairable spike for the hinge, leaving the door loose. Pendulum is missing. Cupid's quiver of arrows appears to be missing a piece along the top. Minor loose fittings, minor loss of gilt. See lot description for details on item condition.
