Eli Lilly (1838-1989) Pharmacist, chemist, businessman. Lilly founded the Eli Lilly and Company pharmaceutical corporation. His company manufactured drugs and marketed them on a wholesale basis to pharmacies. His pharmaceutical firm proved to be successful and he soon became wealthy after making numerous advances in medicinal drug manufacturing. Two of the early advances he pioneered were creating gelatin capsules to contain medicines and developing fruit flavorings. 8 ¼” x 3 ¾” check endorsed. The check was drawn on Kenton Savings Bank, February 8, 1881. A cancellation hole touches the top of the second “I” on his signature. Rare signature.
