MEXICAN ZAPOTEC / AZTEC WOVEN SERAPE / RUG, earth tone stripe design with earth tone and polychrome design of the Mexican coat of arms consisting of an eagle perched on a cactus with a snake in its mouth, center seam bound with wool yarn, possibly for use as a rug. First half 20th century. 64" x 27".
Fair condition with good binding on the weft edges and good retention to color, some staining, wear and damage to both warp ends and fringe, and one area of damage to central design.
