Jin Dynasty, 13th century A fine period example
The broad, high-shouldered body freely painted in russet brown slip with flower sprays fired matte in contrast to the lustrous blackish-brown glaze covering the body and small, waisted mouth
Measures: 8 3/4 x 7 inches
Provenance: Acquired from the prominent A. Abraham of Toronto that owned the Imperial Jade Shop in the famous King Edward Hotel. After the shop closed in 1977 the majority of the items were put into storage for many years with some of the collection now being sold to the public.
This jar was exhibited at The National Museum of the Philippines in Manila and retains the original label
