Description
The poetess Ono no Komachi standing on a verandah holding a fan. A design privately commissioned by the Katsushika poetry club.- This is a so-called Akashi - version 'A' surimono, beautifully executed with metallic pigments and embossing (Keyes.#13).
Yashima Gakutei (1786-1868) was a Japanese artist and poet who was a pupil of both Totoya Hokkei and Hokusai. Gakutei is best known for his kyoka poetry and surimono works.
