Chinese "Faux Bronze" Ceramic Censer
probably 19th century, of fang ding form, with slightly concave sides, each of which is decorated with two stylized dragons confronting each other on a geometric ground, below a studded band, the whole raised on four blade-form legs, each with zoomorphic and archaic scroll detail, the base with a three-character "Hall of the South Office" mark within a square reserve, the later cover, possibly zitan with lacquered finish, surmounted with a carved finial of a figure lying on a standing elephant.

Provenance: From the estate of Ouyang Ju (Mayor of Canton, 1946-1949).

Condition
One foot reglued to base. Mottled patina to surface. Cover in excellent condition. No additional
damage or restoration.
