Description
A pair of Dietz Vesta "tall" Lanterns with road names all spelled out. Both date to 1922: (1) NEW YORK CENTRAL stamped on the lid with a NYCRR clear cast globe. Date code of "S-11-22" (2) BOSTON & MAINE stamped on the lid wit a clear etched B&MRR globe. An added plus is a shop stamped serial number of "3621". Is this a locomotive number? 3621 was a Pacific passenger locomotive built by Alco in 1911. I have not kept track of these numbers added to B&M lanterns over the years but a "36xx" will always be a 4-6-2 on the B&M. Date code of S-7-22".
Both frames are exceptionally clean for Dietz Vestas. They don't have the typical burned top that you see all the time.
