Description
DESCRIPTION: Ernst Zimmerman (Pennsylvanian, 1870-1944). Two watercolors on paper of game. One portraying fish, the other of ducks. Each signed in pencil. Matted in wood frames. Ernst William Zimmerman was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in 1870 and moved to York after the Johnstown flood destroyed the family business. Zimmerman learned the basics of photography and painting from his father Edward. He opened a studio on East College Avenue which he and his wife Elizabeth Blessing operated for over forty years. He died on October 26, 1944. MEASUREMENTS: Each 21-3/4" x 9-3/4". Overall with frames 28-3/4" x 16-3/4". CONDITION: Toning to paper and mats with some foxing. Some wear to frames.
