DESCRIPTION: Partners library table with octagonal top with leather writing surface over two doors (one facing each side) with an ornately carved base with faces of lions ending in paw feet. PROVENANCE: From the Margaret J. Bennett House at 14 E. Franklin Street in Baltimore, Maryland, a 45 room mansion originally built in the 1830's as a private residence for John McKim. In 1902 it was converted to a boarding house for single women with money from Baltimore philanthropist Margaret J. Bennett. Per consignor provided information, the table was used in the mansion's library and was purchased at the Clearing House Ltd on December 26, 1998. MEASUREMENTS: 52" x 34" x 30" high. CONDITION: Some overall wear as expected with and use. Some wear and surface losses to leather.
