April 26 1798, Windham Herald Newspaper with Article by John Adams Original edition of the Thursday, April 26 1798 "Windham Herald" (10.5 x 16.5, 4pp) Vol. VIII, publishing the text of three presidential correspondence on French envoys written by John Adams. The first article is addressed to the House of Representatives, informs them of dispatches sent to the House by the Envoys Extraordinary of the US to the French Republic. The second correspondence is written to the Executive Directory of the French Republic, announcing the appointment of Charles Pinchney, John Marshall and Elbridge Gerry as joint and several envoys extraordinary. The last correspondence is addressed to "All whom these presents shall concern" announcing the appointment of Pinckney, Marshall and Gerry, and their full power and authority to represent the United States. Modest edge faults and toning. Very good condition. Rare.
