Description
13th-14th century AD. A slightly convex bronze annular brooch with flat pin coiled through a slot, ropework borders, the text reads WERbVM dO[ϕ]NI MAN, an abbreviated form of what would later become the motto of the Lutheran Reformation (when it is frequently reduced to the initials VDMA), Isaiah 40viii: 'Verbum Domini manet in Aeternum' which translates to 'the Word of the Lord endures for eternity'.
