Early 2nd millennium BC. A hollow-cast bronze socketted axehead with square edge, waisted upper body, biconvex rim to the mouth; elliptical aperture to one face. Cf. Schmidt, P.K. & Burgess, C.B. The Axes of Scotland and Northern England, Prähistorische Bronzefunde, Ab. IX, vol. 7 Munich, 1981 item 719. 273 grams, 11cm (4 1/4"). Private collection, UK; formed in the 1980s.
