Description
Dietz Edzard (German/French. 1893-1963), "Suzy Solidor)-1942, oil on canvas board, monogrammed lower right, verso of board with label from "Atelier D. Edzard" reading "No 23" with title, date, and size, also with label on verso of frame from Galerie Dominion, Montreal, Canada with inventory no. A8144. Figural Impressionistically-handled oil depicting a young woman with blonde hair wearing gray and blue in an interior, work a portrait of Suzy Solidor (French, 1900-1983), singer and film actress. Framed approximately 12" x 10.25". Unframed approximately 6.75" x 4.9". Note: Suzy Solidor changed her name from Suzanne Louise Marie Marion in the 1920s after moving to Paris. She quickly became a popular nightclub singer at the La Vie Parisienne. She was widely admired and as such, posed for paintings by noted artists working in Paris at the time including Pablo Picasso, Francis Picabia, Tamara de Lempicka, Georges Braque, and Marie Laurencin.
