Description
Emory Pius Seidel (American (Chicago, Illinois), 1881-1954). Cast and patinated Art Deco figural bronze centerpiece with removable oblong bowl with flared rim at center flanked by kneeling young female beauties with short hair, slender bodies and bare feet, gently holding a small winged bird in open upward facing palm on an integral Art Deco base with outswept feet. Marked on underside of centerpiece base and bowl with circular mark reading "ROMAN BRONZE WORKS N.Y.". Overall approximate height 10", width 20.5", depth 7.5". Note: Seidel is well-regarded for his graceful figures and work in bronze decorative arts. In 1925, he won the John C. Shaffer Prize from the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1927, he was awarded the Palette and Chisel Award.
