Description
Whiting Manufacturing Company (American (New York), 1866-1926 (absorbed into Gorham in 1926). An art Nouveau sterling silver covered and handled tureen or large serving dish decorated with repousse hibiscus. Hallmarked to the underside for Whiting, "STERLING/6100/6 3/4 PINTS". Approximate height 8", width 12.75", depth 7.25". Overall approximate weight 36.04 troy ounces.
Condition
Lid does not rest tightly in base; there is very minor wear to lid rim from contact with base. Handles are clean and free of damage. Tureen does not appear to have ever been monogrammed . Small scratches to underside; commensurate with age, usage and contact to surface.
