Description
A well-detailed Cypriot stone head of a man, 6th Century BC, wearing a pointed hood with incised lines, his curled hair peeking out from underneath. The features are sensitively rendered and a very handsome piece! H: 1 ½ in (3.8cm). Light deposits. Accompanied with copy of receipt of purchase from P. Kolokasides, Cyprus, 1964. Ex estate of Seward Kennedy, New York; acquired from P. Kolokasides in Nicosia, Cyprus, 1964. Mr. Kennedy worked for decades as a lawyer for the Mobil Corporation, and acquired his collection throughout decades of travel beginning in the 1950's.
