This is a fabulous piece of Americana that has not come up for auction before. It came right out of the basement of the original general store in Danville, Pa. The store was owned by John F. Tooley and was located at 315-318 Mill Street. This box was used to deliver groceries, dry goods and other smaller items to surrounding stores in the mid to late 1800's. It has wonderful hand drawn advertisements for coffee, groceries and flour on all four sides. The colors are unbelievably vibrant. There is a uniform age cracking to the entire painted surface. There are some scrapes, a few areas of paint loss and some damage to the bottom of the box. These small imperfections do not take away anything from the beauty of this piece that is well over 100 years old. Condition(Very Good Plus).Dimensions63" x 28" x 34 -1/2".
