Description
This superbly engraved, large-scale Dépôt de la Marine map of Jamaica was based on the 1763 surveys of Thomas Craskell and James Simson and "corrected and augmented" in the year VIII of the French Revolutionary calendar (1798/1799). The map features excellent topographical detail, many place names, roads, buildings, soundings, rhumb lines, and a highly detailed inset plan of the ports of Kingston and Port Royal.
